An Unplanned Stop That Turned Into an Unforgettable Dining Experience….
Our dining experience at this restaurant was nothing short of exceptional… and what makes it even more special is that we didn’t originally plan to dine here. We were initially planning to eat at Blackbird (located beside Massimo), but decided to walk in here instead and we are so glad we did. What started as a spontaneous choice turned into one of the best dining experiences we’ve had.
Food:
The food was absolute perfection and truly outstanding value for money easily on par with the best. We ordered the fresh oysters and the full banquet, and every dish exceeded our expectations. The oysters were incredibly fresh, clean, and briny you could genuinely taste the ocean in every bite and not forget the creaminiess taste too…
The seafood across the banquet was beautifully prepared, well-balanced, and thoughtfully presented. Each dish highlighted the freshness of the ingredients, making the entire meal feel indulgent yet refined. Pakak!!
Service:
The service deserves special recognition. We were assisted by a Filipino staff member and his name is Ken who was not only warm and friendly but also highly professional. He patiently walked us through every dish, explained how each course was meant to be enjoyed, suggested the best pairings, and confidently recommended the banquet — which turned out to be the perfect choice. His knowledge, attentiveness, and genuine care elevated the entire experience.
Atmosphere:
The atmosphere was just as impressive as the food and service. With a stunning riverfront view overlooking one of Brisbane’s iconic bridges, the setting was relaxing, elegant, and memorable. It’s the kind of place where you want to slow down, take it all in, and enjoy every moment.
Overall:
Superb in every sense. This restaurant delivered beyond expectations in quality, service, and atmosphere. A perfect spot for special occasions, date nights, or content creation for food bloggers and vlogg

Very good and real italian restaurant. My wife and me had dinner in the patio with a beautiful river and bridge view. We ordered whipped ricotta, parmigiana eggplant, 750 gr mussels and focaccia. Food was excellent, mozzarella cheese on top of parmigiana was delicious. Also service was excellent. I would like to suggest this restaurant if you want to taste Italian food in Brisbane.

My bestie and I spent the evening at Massimo we had the limoncello oysters and they were definitely the highlight of the night second to the lasagne. As big burrata lovers we thought we would switch it up for the whipped ricotta which was INSANE highly recommend if you are getting a starter / entree. Giovanni was our waiter and could not fault him one bit he recommended a red and white wine to pair with our mains and they were perfect so smooth and easy to drink. 10/10 will definitely be back

The food, drinks and vibes were amazing! We went as a group of 6 on a Saturday night in December expecting it to be hectic and busy! The restaurant was perfectly tidy, service was super fast and everything including food and drink was high quality!! We ordered bits to share off the a la carte menu! The group favourite was the cacio a pepe served in the cheese wheel! Our waiter was fantastic (didn’t ask his name but got a picture of him serving the pasta). He read the vibes of the group perfectly! We couldn’t have asked for a better experience! Thank you so much for a great evening!

Day out in Brisbane, and very happy we stumbled across this place. Right on the river with a view of Story Bridge easy to get to by Citycat. The menu had so many delicious choices, so for a lunch we ordered way too much as I love tasting lots of dishes/ flavours. The burrata with the herbs infused honey was sooo good (pic), the pork and veal meatballs unbelievably juicy and tasty. I loved the focaccia with whipped ricotta but hubby didn't. Can't have everything. For main I had the mussels, big plump and juicy, and not a beard in sight, the sauce was amazingly good, definitely no regrets. Hubby had beef cheek fettuccine and was super happy with his choice. Staff were super attentive and friendly. Would definitely eat here again when next in town.

If you’re after a gorgeous date night spot with serious food to match, Massimo is an easy yes!
Think waterfront views, warm Italian vibes and plates that are made to be shared!
Our picks:
🍞 house focaccia
🧀 burrata
🫒 fried olives
🍝 massimo lasagne
🥩 eye fillet w/ mushroom sauce
🥦 sautéed broccolini
🍰 tiramisu
Everything was beautifully done — the focaccia was fluffy & perfect for scooping up burrata!
The signature lasagne was rich and comforting, and the eye fillet was cooked just right.
And don’t skip dessert, that tiramisu is light, creamy and the perfect way to finish.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Massimo Italian at South Bank delivered an outstanding dining experience from start to finish.
The service was exceptional - attentive, professional and genuinely welcoming. Drinks were refreshed promptly with no waiting, and the team ensured everything flowed seamlessly throughout the evening. Giovanni, one of the owners, personally introduced himself, shared the story behind the restaurant and generously recommended other venues within their group, which added a very personal and memorable touch.
The food was superb. We started with the focaccia and ricotta dip (a house favourite and rightly so) along with the croquettes - rich, cheesy and absolutely worth ordering to share. For mains, the lasagna was spectacular, tasting truly homemade and full of flavour, while the meatballs with spaghetti were served piping hot, generously portioned and deeply satisfying. Every dish arrived hot and remained so throughout the meal - a clear sign of attention to detail in the kitchen.
Portion sizes were exceptionally generous, quality was consistent across all courses, and the overall value was excellent.
We arrived via rideshare so parking wasn’t an issue, and the location couldn’t be better - the ferry ramp is only around 100 metres away, making a post-dinner trip to the casino effortless.
An outstanding venue with fantastic food, attentive service and genuine hospitality. Massimo is a standout at South Bank and highly recommended.

We had a great experience at Massimo. What stood out straight away was the service. We arrived just before opening and Giovanni welcomed us in for a drink instead of turning us away which was such a nice touch and not something you often get.
The cocktails were excellent, and the food was just as impressive. We started with the zucchini flowers, which were beautifully prepared and full of flavour — easily some of the best we’ve had.
For mains, the pasta was cooked perfectly with just the right amount of sauce. The pork and veal meatballs were a great size, juicy, and full of flavour. The sand crab trenette was a standout as well, with a very generous amount of crab throughout, making it rich, satisfying, and well balanced.
We also took a tiramisu to enjoy later, and it was absolutely divine.
Great service, a relaxed yet professional atmosphere, and fantastic food all around.
If you are looking for an authentic Italian restaurant, we highly recommend Massimo!
